Looking for a more traditional interior design? Check out our collection of split-level house plans.
Split-level homes are a variation on the typical ranch-style home. In the collection below you'll discover bi-level designs and tri-level layouts. When you step into a bi-level home design, you're immediately greeted by two sets of stairs—one going up, and another going down. With a tri-level design, the main level will generally feature the primary living space, but there will also be a half-staircase going up (possibly to bedrooms), as well as a half staircase going down (perhaps to more bedrooms, or perhaps to a secondary living space, like a den).
Anyone seeking a more traditional interior design. Moreover, tri-level homes can be a nice compromise if you're not sure if you want a one- or two-story home. A tri-level home offers a nice, traditional separation of spaces, but only half-staircases. This can potentially make aging in place easier than in a two-story layout where you're constantly having to navigate full staircases.
