Plans with Office/Flex Rooms
This casita/flex space can work as a guest suite and home office
Plans with casitas or rooms that are somewhat separated from the rest of the house are especially flexible for people who work at home, for in-laws, or other long-term guests. Ranch style Plan 888-17, for example, by

Nick Lee and shown here and at the top of this post, includes a two-room suite off a breezeway and can function as a home office and guest suite at the same time. Contemporary Plan 449-21 by David Cox is a U-shaped
courtyard design that offers a casita/study at one end of the U, behind the so-called "loggia." David Cox's

Plan 449-8 puts the casita to the left of the front door, which separates it from the rest of the house for greater

privacy for in-laws or as a potential Airbnb rental.

In Modern Plan 496-26 by Leon Meyer, the study is off the central entry hall across from the powder room.

Craftsman style Plan 124-485 calls the flex space a "den" but it's also adjacent to a powder room

so it can work as a guest room in a pinch..

Indeed, flexibility is an important feature of our most popular house plans. Out of our twenty top selling house plans, twelve include flex spaces. These generally more compact 3 bedroom plans usually include a flex space near the front door or kitchen and also not far from a powder room or full bath so they can function as a guest room when necessary. Here's a range of configurations from our best sellers.

Ranch style Plan 140-149 puts the office beside the master suite -- though not within it -- so

it is accessible from the rest of the house (note the adjacent powder room!). In Country Farmhouse Plan 137-252 the study is

really an extra bedroom with its own bathroom. However this bathroom also opens to the hall for added
flexibility.
