Remodelista and Gardenista -- two innovative home and landscape design websites (not part of Houseplans.com) -- have just completed their design awards program for 2014. I think it's a great place to look for useful ideas if you're planning a new home or outdoor living space. More than 1,000 projects were submitted, a panel of judges selected the finalists (some of which were mentioned in an earlier post), and the websites' readers voted more than 50,000 times. Whew! That's a lot of voting to tally! Here's a quick look at some of the winners -- to see the entire list visit both websites. It's interesting to compare the finalists voted by design experts with the ones that were voted winners by the general public -- there can be a big difference and sometimes practicality trumps artfulness.
