Open floor plans, vaulted ceilings, big windows, and outdoor living areas can make a small home look and feel larger than it actually is. Also look for designs with smart storage spaces, e.g. a mudroom with built-in lockers, or a kitchen with a walk-in pantry, as excess clutter can make a space feel smaller than it actually is.
Yes! All of our house plans can be customized. Just click the Modify This Plan button on the product detail page of the design you're interested in purchasing, and tell us what changes you would like to make. Common modifications include: adding a bedroom, bathroom, or powder room, editing the footprint, or changing the foundation or framing. Be sure to discuss the changes you have in mind with your builder to ensure you don't run into any problems down the road. Example: Let's say you find a plan you love, but it doesn't offer a basement. If you want a basement, we can help you customize the design so it features one, but some building locations are not conducive to having a basement foundation. This is why talking to your contractor and/or local building authority ahead of time is usually the best option.
