SAVED!
Looking for a simple, extra-small, single-story home design? Check out our collection of one-story tiny house plans! Each floor plan below is less than 1,000 sq. ft.
Empty-nesters, or anyone seeking to down-size might appreciate one of these designs, especially if they wish to avoid stairs as much as possible. Young couples, or single professionals looking to build an affordable starter home might also be interested in a tiny one-story home design. As you'll see below, many of these layouts boast open floor plans, outdoor living, and vaulted ceilings, all of which can make a tiny or small home look and feel larger than it actually is.
Mansion floor plan seekers should definitely head over to the mansion category, because the tiny designs below probably won't suffice! What's more, if you prefer two-story homes, check out our collection of two-story tiny house plans. Two-story layouts offer homeowners a more pronounced separation of spaces.
It depends! Some people dig tiny homes because of affordability. Note that, in general, smaller homes cost less to build overall than larger, more complex designs.* Wouldn't it be nice to use some of that extra building/monthly mortgage budget to travel, dine out, and live life to its fullest? What's more, some homeowners simply desire a sense of simplicity - a way to cut down on all the extra "stuff" in their lives that they don't really need.
*Take note: some tiny homes cost more than you might think to build, as the cost per sq. ft. for a tiny home is sometimes higher than the cost per sq. ft. of a larger home. A tiny home will usually still be cheaper to build than a larger home (on the whole), but you can sometimes enjoy "a bigger bang for your buck" if you build a larger home. Be sure to discuss this with your home builder to make sure you get the plan that's right for you and your budget.
